Psalm 46:10a: Be Still, and know that I am God.
What do you do when you don't know what to do? You can do many things, but there
is really only one thing you can do. That is to, be still and know that God is
in control. In order to be still the first thing to do is pause...stop
whatever you call yourself doing, pray, and then praise. Pausing will
in essence be your way of saying, "what do I do?" Praying acknowledges
that you need supernatural help that only comes from the heavenly
Father. Praising gives you the strength to wait until your desired change
has come. The psalmist declares that God will be exalted in the earth
and in our very lives at every, and any given moment if we will be still
in His presence. God loves the attention of His children when He is moving
in our behalf. Like a river that flows in the space of time, that offers a
weary traveler a cool drink of water because he is dying of thirst--when
you are still in the presence of God, you can hear Him whisper your name in a
soft cool breeze. You can hear His call like an eagle searching for her
young. And your heart would swell in a moment that could literally take your breathe
away. Being still can ease a troubled mind, or bring complete joy in the
midst of confusion. God's love will overwhelm you if you pause, pray and
praise. He comes close when you shut off the sounds of movement around
you, within you, and let him have His way. Reverence His glory as He
bids you to be still, and know that He is God.
